eTA Canada (AVE) for Algerians
Last verified: June 2026
❌ No — the eTA (AVE) is not open to Algerians
The Canadian eTA is reserved for visa-exempt countries. Algeria is not one of them, and even the expanded program (eTA-X) — which lets some visa-required countries travel on an eTA if they hold a US visa — excludes Algeria (Morocco is on it, not Algeria). So a US visa does NOT exempt you from the Canadian visa.

✅ The real route
For Canada, Algerians need a temporary resident visa (visitor visa / TRV): applied for online via IRCC with biometrics. It is a visa, not a simple authorization.

Frequently asked questions
I hold a valid US visa — can I get the eTA?
No. The expanded eTA program (eTA-X) excludes Algeria; you need the Canadian visitor visa.
What's the difference between the eTA and a visa?
The eTA is a simple authorization for visa-exempt countries; Algeria is not one and needs a visa.
How do I travel to Canada from Algeria?
With a temporary resident (visitor) visa, applied online via IRCC, with biometrics. See our Canada page.
Can OuiVisa get me this authorization?
No — it does not exist for Algerians. OuiVisa points you to the real route (a visa) and, where relevant, to a partner agency.
These online authorizations (ESTA, eTA, ETIAS, ETA…) are reserved for visa-exempt countries; Algeria is visa-required for these destinations. OuiVisa points you to the right route — partner agency or e-Visa depending on the country. No visa approval is guaranteed.
