Yellow fever & health for Tanzania from Algeria
Last verified: June 2026 (Tanzania MoH / CDC / FCDO sources)
Do you need a yellow fever vaccine for Tanzania?
A yellow fever certificate is required only if you arrive from — or transit 12h+ through — a risk country. ⚠️ Note: the most common East-African hubs to reach Tanzania — Nairobi (Kenya), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Entebbe (Uganda) — are risk countries. A direct flight (or a short transit < 12h) needs no certificate. The vaccine is still recommended. These rules are separate from the e-Visa and the Zanzibar insurance.

Frequently asked questions
Does a direct flight require yellow fever?
No. The certificate is required only if you transit 12h+ through a risk country.
Why be careful with East-African layovers?
Nairobi, Addis Ababa and Entebbe are risk countries: a 12h+ layover there triggers the certificate requirement.
Is the vaccine still advised?
Yes, it is still recommended for Tanzania.
How do I avoid scams?
Use only the official .go.tz domain (visa.immigration.go.tz). Resellers add $20–150 and mishandle your data.
Is approval guaranteed?
No. The decision is at Tanzanian Immigration's discretion; OuiVisa checks eligibility before payment.
Your Tanzania e-Visa first
Yellow fever is separate from the visa. OuiVisa gets your e-Visa ($50) online — see the Tourism tab.
See the tourist e-Visae-Visa handled 100% online by OuiVisa — no embassy visit and no pre-travel biometrics. For visas requiring biometrics and physical presence, OuiVisa refers you to a partner agency. Visa issuance is at the Tanzanian authorities' discretion; approval is not guaranteed.
